On to States!

Tommorow morning I head out with these Forest Park kids who qualified for State Finals. Luke, BTW took 1st places all season, but State Forensics will be alot more challenging!
I'm kinda excited because I get to be a judge! They'll even pay me for it. Woot!
I look forward to time with my oldest son, though I am sad I'll be missing church Sunday now that Charlie and I have found a church I am pretty sure we will soon be calling "home," at long last. http://www.nlcofmqt.org/

The Belle of the Ball

Today was Hannahs prom. She was excited and all, but was having the usual money issues. The biggest issue was how she could afford the necessary updo. I offered to help pay for some... but other needs like pictures and such still weighed on her. We made a bunch of phone calls and finally settled for a late appointment for $30.00.

We headed to the YMCA to work out so Hannah could feel skinny and beautiful for the big event. There at the Y was a sign that said "Prom Pampering," with an arrow. We looked at each other in an odd and slightly hopeful way and followed the arrow to a room where teen girls were having face massages, manicures, pedicures, hair.. make up.. the whole shablam. NMU's cosmetology school holds the event as a community service each year. The cost? $5.00

THAT fit nicely into Hannahs budget! She got the whole service... hair, nails, and make up! See for yourself:

She was dazzling!!!!!!

What a Beauty!

I had the grandestest pleasure of watching two of my kids perform in Shakespeares "Midsummer nights dream." hannah was honored as a Senior.

And she did awesome as Hermia.. in love with Lysander

This was Lukes crowning moment. Watch it all!

Luke made a.. a.. "fool" of himself

Fire-Up weekend

Thursday was a little party for Charlies son Drew
who turned the big 1-1!! Yay!!

It was followed by a week full of people and events. Grace and Josh + grandkiddies, Joshs Mother Donna,The CC Youth Group, and the band FlatFoot 56 showed up for the big Youth Event here: FIRE UP! I have gone as a youth leader for many years on and off. This year I was a volunteer. It was a whole different experience from that perspective, as well as living in marquette now and hosting people instead of being hosted. :-) This is the band boys. All 6' something except the bagpipe boy: Josh
That's why he has to jump to keep up:

This was the exciting job of guarding the doorway for people with Stage passes only. Charlie did great even if one person got through without a pass.
There was an illusionist; BJ Harris. He was awesome. But I liked this guy best:

Here's various youth people who were in and out and here and there. My personal favorites are the two boys on the left and the girl holding the baby. And the baby.
We were all wiped out. Except Zuri, who had been inspired by the speakers and was raring to go to church Sunday Morning while everyone else tried to recover:

If you don't like the weather here...

Just stay 5 minuets, it'll change. Here is proof:

This is the same scene as my previous post 2 days later. What's funny is... the same day I posted the blizzard scene it was sunny and 40's in the afternoon. Here's to spring!

God's Idea of an April Fools joke?

Just when you think it's time for Spring, I woke up to this:

Blizzard Conditions on April 1st!!! Oi Vey! Oh to have some hot cider and a blazing fire. Alas.. I am trapped within my cider-less home and doubt I shall even cross the street to go to Citgo anytime soon! My poor little dog started to go out her doggie door and backed right back out.

Check out this radar pic below:

Marquette is about where that orangeish top "flame" thing seems to be pointing. Anyone want to move up?
